We are both conscious consumers, always looking for toxin-free and paraben-free alternatives that work with our busy lifestyles. The operative word in that last sentence is work. So many products claim to be kind to our bodies and environmentally friendly, but at the end of the day they won’t become favorites if they don’t get the job done. Last month ethical muse met Susie Paneyko, a consultant for Beautycounter. As we learned more about this skin care brand, we knew we had to give it a try. She gifted ethical muse a travel kit with the basics: Clean everyday shampoo, Rinse everyday conditioner, Wash everyday body wash and Hydrate everyday body lotion, and we were hooked.
Christina favored the body wash and lotion. “Both products were light-weight and left me feeling clean, and I am crazy for the subtle clean scent. Living in the desert, I suffer from dry skin. The body lotion absorbed quickly and moisturized easily with no sticky or tacky texture. As Beautycounter says, “It’s like a drink of water for thirsty skin”.
Cathy loved the shampoo and conditioner. “Apart from the delicious scent of citrus, my hair felt light. That’s the only way I can describe it. I often get an itchy scalp after using other conditioners and now know that the preservatives methylchloroisothiazolinone and methylisothiazolinone, which are often used, have been associated with allergic reactions. I am a Beautycounter convert knowing these products are free of harmful ingredients.”
The travel size products and zip-top pouch will be our perfect trip companion, but we’ve already placed an order for the large size bottles as well….plus a few other things we couldn’t resist trying: the Lustro Sugar Scrub (no chemical fragrance here, just a refreshing lemongrass scent) and the Protect SPF 30 All Over Sunscreen. The sunscreen uses safe and natural non-nano zinc oxide together with aloe vera, green tea and blood orange, which is perfect for the whole family.
Sustainable skin care isn’t just good for your body, it’s good for the environment too. Less chemicals to harm our skin, and less getting into our water supply. We’ll be cleaning up our act for the new year. Will you join us?
